Hemsworth based winger David Jones came through the ranks at Wakefield Trinity and played for GB Colts as a youngster. He signed for a Featherstone Rovers team that was sliding towards relegation. He initially stuck with the club in Division Two and his Rovers’ career highlight came that September, a hatrick against Rochdale. He moved to Batley shortly afterwards.
