An organiser, line breaker and accomplished goal kicker, scrum-half Dec Patton joined Featherstone Rovers to plug a gap left by the departure of Ben Reynolds and a long term injury to Thomas Lacans. Patton's career started at Warrington, for whom he played over 100 games, gaining representative honours with England Knights. After spells at a number of other clubs, Rovers moved to sign him from Swinton mid-season in 2024. At the time of his signing, it was announced that he had signed for Widnes for 2025. A promising start to his Rovers career was marred by a six match ban for a reckless tackle,  which basically halved the number of games he was available for the club. Soon after his return, Lacans returned to fitness and Patton was left out of the side.
