At a time when all rugby league front-rowers had a reputation as hard men, Dennis Morgan stood out as a fierce competitor. Cousin of Mick Morgan, and part of the famous Featherstone family of Morgans Dennis signed for Rovers as a teenager but after two seasons had managed only a handful of first team matches, such was the consistency of Willis Fawley in the number nine shirt. Morgan moved to Doncaster and then Bramley. A hooking crisis following the retirements of Fawley and Kosanovic, plus a career-ending injury to Graham Harris brought Morgan back to Featherstone in 1968 as first choice hooker. He held this position until  the 1970 Yorkshire Cup final. Rovers played Leeds, but Morgan was sent-off early in the game, a contributory factor to a disappointing defeat. He never played again. Vince Farrar had a run at hooker, and then Keith Bridges emerged. It was an ignominious end for a hard-working player and larger-than-life character.
