Normanton based Eric Loxton signed for Featherstone as a youngster, and played mostly for the A team over four seasons with the club. After making his debut at the end of the 1962/63 season, the following year was his most successful, playing six matches, scoring two tries. He also kicked two goals in a tight match against Keighley, giving Rovers a 7-5 victory. His final professional game was at the start of the 1965/66 season and he wasn't called on again.
Eric was also a very good cricketer, well known on the local club scene, and played for Slazengers at Horbury. His cousin Ken Loxton played for Great Britain, before being assistant coach at Featherstone Rovers under Peter Fox.
