Utility forward Franny Jarvis came to Featherstone at a difficult time. A hardworking second-row, he was equally happy filling in at hooker, a good tackler who never shirked his work-load. Unfortunately, the Rovers squad had been decimated by the sale of various star players and after a year of real struggle, Rovers were relegated. Jarvis hardly played in our Second Division Championship winning season due to injury, but strung together some good performances in 1980/1 including a memorable try at Odsal against his former club Bradford, when he made a break, pulled a hamstring but still managed to keep going and score a try. Unfortunately, that injury more or less finished his Rovers career.  He transferred to Hunslet for the 81/82 season and later played at Halifax.  After retiring, he got into coaching, and was an official of the Underbank club.
