Fred Agar was signed from Rovers juniors a few years before his younger brother Allan took the same path. Principally a second -row forward, he had to wait over a year for a first team opportunity, and he was then given goal-kicking responsibilities in the absence of Fox and Clawson. When they both recovered, Agar's opportunities were limited and he played mostly for the A team over the following three seasons.
