Frédéric Zitter started his career in his native France at Lezignan and Limoux. Capped by his country in 2002 he moved to England in 2004 to sign for Featherstone Rovers. At home in the centres or on the wing, he made a useful contribution to Rovers’ modest season, picking up eight tries. He played and scored for France v Australia at the end of the season. He later played for Barrow and briefly Catalan Dragons in their debut year, as well as Lyon and Montpellier.

Years later, his wife Audrey Zitter made history when she became the first female coach of a professional men’s team, coaching Montpellier from 2013 to 2016.
