Confusingly, just weeks after Rovers sold star full-back George Johnson (the son of the club founder) to Hunslet, Rovers signed another Featherstone-born full-back called George Johnson, although he was no relation to the other family. This George Johnson started at Featherstone Juniors, but signed professionally for Wakefield, then joined Batley after 15 games at Belle Vue. He played five games for Rovers first team but lost his place to Tommy Dennis and didn’t play again.
