Flockton born 20 year old George Naylor signed for Halifax in 1911 as a solidly built hooker.  He moved to Hunslet before the start of World War 1 where he was enlisted and served in a field butchery unit.  He played some games for Huddersfield while on leave. After discharge he was still on Huddersfield books but moved to Wakefield Trinity in the 1920/21 season.

He played eight games for Rovers at the end of their inaugural season, as, short of fit players, they borrowed Naylor from Wakefield on a month’s loan. Noted in his first game for winning possession from the scrums, he also played four matches at prop forward. 

At the time of his appearances for Rovers he was a miner but he subsequently moved into licensing trade and died suddenly in August 1940 in Leeds.
