Graeme Robinson was born in Darlington but went to school in Normanton.  He played junior rugby to a high standard and played for Yorkshire Under 18's.  A good attacking full back he found it difficult to dislodge Harold Box from the first team slot and only really got opportunities when Box was unavailable.  He also faced competition from John Marsden and transferred to the new Carlisle rugby league team in 1981.
