A good all-round sportsman, Harry Ellis was signed from Rovers junior set-up as a teenager in the summer of 1958. At school, he had been an athletics champion. Earning a place in Rovers’ second-row at that time proved exceptionally difficult, and Ellis was called on just twice in three seasons. A serious career accident in January 1961 when he broke his knee and ankle finished his career.
