In April 1960 the Rovers had a hooker injury crisis in that both Willis Fawley the regular hooker and his deputy Walter Ward were both out of action in the last month of that season. Castleford offered their reserve hooker Ian Corban on loan and he made his senior debut in Rovers 11pts to 9 win at Huddersfield on 15 April 1960. He made two more appearances before the end of the season.

Ironically a similar situation reared itself later in the year when with Ward still absent, Fawley received a two match suspension. Castleford agreed a further loan period of one month for Corban who played at Batley 3 December 1960 and at home to Bramley on 10 December. Rovers had the option of arranging a permanent transfer at the end of the loan period for £500 but did not take it up as their hooker crisis had passed. (RB)
