The traditional end of season fixture glut around Easter is often the time to try out new players. At the end of 1934/5 Rovers gave a trial to Sharlston second-rower Jack Wildman who gave a promising display on debut v Barrow. Retained for the Easter Monday trip to Liverpool, Rovers were hammered, the season finished and Wildman’s trial was over.
