Jacob Doyle joined Featherstone in 2021 from Castleford's Academy, but with players such as Ben Blackmore and Gareth Gale ahead of him, he had to bide his time for a first team opportunity. When it came, he took it with both hands, scoring on his debut against Sheffield. HIs second ever professional outing was at Wembley in the 1895 Cup final against York. A Covid-hit Rovers team won the Cup in an entertaining match, and the well-built Doyle grabbed two well-taken tries to mark the occasion. After a try scoring appearance the following week, an injury kept him out of contention, and by the end of the season there was no displacing the free scoring Gale or Craig Hall. The following year, unable to get an opportunity at Featherstone, he was loaned out to Hunslet, and at the end of the year signed for Dewsbury.
