Signed from Castleford’s Academy, Jake Sweeting was equally at home at half-back or hooker. He just had time to make his first team before the Covid outbreak suspended the 2020 season, grabbing two tries in a Challenge Cup tie against Hunslet. He then had a remarkable 2021 season.
Unable to break into Rovers’ first team he had short loan spells at Hunslet, and then York. Weeks later, recalled by Rovers in the middle of a Covid crisis, he played against York at Wembley as Featherstone’s starting hooker in the 1895 Cup final. It was to be his final Featherstone game. He then had a one match loan back at Castleford, making his Super League debut, before finishing the season at Doncaster, where he landed a memorable last second touchline conversion to send the Dons into their League One playoff final. At the end of the season, after appearing for five different clubs in 2021, he signed for Dewsbury.
