Sharlston born James Ward was part of his hometown team’s giant-killing victory over Dewsbury in the Challenge Cup in 2004. He then turned professional at York and came to Featherstone in 2007 under coach David Hobbs. He played a handful of games off the bench in that season in National League Two.
