Papua New Guinea international Jesse Joe Parker came over to Featherstone for the 2010 season with compatriot Larsen Marabe as a headline signing for a team who would dominate that Championship campaign. Parker’s career started in the domestic league of Papua New Guinea, but after representing his country at the 2008 World Cup he was signed by Northern Pride in the Queensland Cup for 2009. When he arrived at Featherstone, Rovers realised they had a powerfully built centre, with good hands who could run hard and score tries. After his debut as a substitute, and a single game at stand-off, he slotted into centre to great effect. Hatricks against Workington and Whitehaven showed how difficult he was to handle. 17 tries in 15 games augured well, but in June, with his team-mate Marabe already back home in PNG, Parker’s season came to a halt when he had to go home for a family bereavement, and then his child was seriously ill. He did not make it back before the end of the season, although he did represent his country as a Featherstone player at the end of 2010.

In 2012 he came back to England and signed for Whitehaven, settled in Cumbria and played ten seasons there, continuing his impressive scoring rate.
