Second-rower Jimmy Beckett was former Rovers ball-boy who signed for Featherstone Rovers from Castleford's Academy in 2019. He made his debut that same year, and proved to be a useful squad member over three seasons. His progress was hampered by the lack of a reserve team in which to develop his game, and so he had loan spells at Keighley and Oldham in 2019 and then at Dewsbury in 2021, before signing full-time for the Rams. When the opportunity came to return to Featherstone in 2024, he came back a more mature and powerful player, slotting straight into the back-row where he stood out with his work-rate and handling. 2025 was his breakout year though, moving up to the front row and taking on the responsibilities involved with being a starting prop. He proved to be highly consistent in the role, a virtual ever-present throughout a difficult season, offering go-forward with his strong runs and imposing himself physically on the opposition.
At the end of the season with the club in financial difficulties he stayed with Featherstone until it was apparent that Rovers would not be able to compete in 2026, at which point he took up an offer from Castleford.
