Hooker Joe Hall transferred to Featherstone from Leeds mid-way through the 1927/28 season. Hall joined Leeds from Dewsbury near the end of 1924, and was a regular in the Leeds side until a few weeks before his transfer to Rovers. Joe proved an inspired signing as he went straight into the first team and became an essential part of the Rovers most successful pre-war team in an era when scrum possession was vital. They finished 3rd in the league and Joe played his part in defeating his former employers in a fantastic 15-12 victory in the Championship semi-final at Headingley. In the final Rovers couldn't quite repeat the same form and lost to Oldham.
Joe's career at Rovers was a brief 31 appearances before he was transferred to Huddersfield but one of the most successful.
