John Bastian was a tall second-rower signed by Peter Fox from Milford ARLFC and thrown straight into Rovers first team playing Second Division rugby. He adapted well and played three further years at Featherstone in the top flight. He later played for Dewsbury. After retiring, he made a name for himself as a junior coach as Head of Development at both Warrington and Leeds. He was then appointed Featherstone Rovers Head coach for the 2014 season.
