Hooker John McNeill was playing for Castleford Colts when Paul Daley brought him to Featherstone for A team trials. With Ray Handscombe installed as first team hooker, McNeill had his work cut out in a reserve team squad that included other promising young hookers such as Gary Tingle and Neil Gray. He managed five first team games in our Second Division Championship winning year. He then signed for Leeds where he played a number of seasons before hanging up his boots.
