Australian stand-off Johnathon Ford came to Featherstone in the middle of the 2022 season after years as one of the Championship's outstanding players at Toulouse Olympique. Hampered by injury, it took him a while to establish a place in the starting line up and by the end of the season the club had only seen glimpses of his top form. The following season was also immensely frustrating as knee and shoulder injuries ruined what could have been a crucial contribution towards Rovers' promotion push. In the games where he was fit and available he showed match-winning class and intelligent distribution, but ultimately he was unable to reproduce that form at the end of the campaign when Rovers crashed out of the playoffs.

Ford left at the end of 2023 as part of a general clearout of players, having played just 20 of 47 games whilst at the club. Fans were left with a sense of 'what might have been' had this talented and influential stand-off been less injury plagued throughout his time at the club.

As a Featherstone player he represented the Cook Islands at the 2022 World Cup.
