Regular Scottish international winger Jon Steel had four years at Hull KR before joining Featherstone for the 2009 season. Just prior to signing he had made a try-scoring appearance for Scotland at the 2008 Rugby League World Cup. Small in stature, he was a determined hard runner who knew his way to the line. His first year brought 17 tries from 23 matches playing outside centre Andy Kirk. In his second season a reasonable eight tries in 16 games saw him then unfortunately make way as Zak Hardaker burst onto the scene. At the end of that season he quit playing.
