Wigan born centre Jon Whittle made his Super League debut for his hometown team in 2003 but then struggled to overcome a series of injuries. Short spells at Widnes, Hull R and Wakefield were similarly disrupted for this obviously talented youngster before he signed for Featherstone in National League Two in 2007. He enjoyed the best season of his career, staying largely injury free and racking up 13 tries in 28 matches. His final game was the playoff final against Oldham, after which he retired from playing, aged just 25.
