At 20 years old on the fringes of Leeds first team squad, Guildford-born Josh Walters scored the match-winning try in the 2015 Super League Grand final at Old Trafford. Iconic moment though that was, he never really established himself at Headingley, although he did play some 60 games in five seasons. From 2016, he began to appear occasionally for Featherstone Rovers under the Dual Registration system, consistently impressing with his work-rate and athleticism. When the chance came, Rovers did not hesitate to sign him up full-time for 2019. He quickly became a fixture in the back-row alongside Brad Day and James Lockwood, instrumental in Rovers’ run to the Championship Grand final against Toronto. The following year he joined London Broncos.
