Australian-born half-back Josh Weeden was a constant figure in a poor Rovers team that was relegated in the 2005 season. He came over to England from Canberra feeder club Queanbeyan Kangaroos. Although a youngster, a lot of responsibility fell on his shoulders, as he partnered first Jon Presley and then loan-signing Liam Finn in the halves. His first season finished with a horrific broken leg in a terrible thrashing at home to Hull KR.

To his credit, Weeden bounced back the following year, partnering Craig Fawcett at halfback. But as Rovers struggled to win National League Two, Weedon was loaned out to Doncaster. He also later played for Dewsbury and Hunslet. Later in his career he played for Otumoetai Eels in New Zealand where his coach was former Rovers player Brett Rodger.
