Karl Pratt burst onto the scene at Featherstone Rovers in sensational style as a 17 year old stand-off under coach David Ward. In 1998 under Steve Sims, Pratt was switched to the wing with devastating effect as he played a major role in Rovers’ run to the Grand final. It was his streaking run down the touchline which everyone thought had clinched Rovers Super League place for 1999, before his efforts were ruled out for an imperceptible knock on by Asa Amone in the build up. 25 tries in 33 games was bound to attract attention and sure enough, still only 18 years old, Pratt made a big money move to Leeds.

A nagging shoulder injury aside, he was a first team regular at Leeds over four seasons, winning England, then Great Britain caps. A high profile poor performance v New Zealand, not only cost him his representative career, but he was released by Leeds, only to be snapped up by Bradford. There he reinvented himself as a hooker with some success but when his shoulder injury became too bad he was forced to retire at just 25 years old.
