Local product and Rovers fan, Keal Carlile signed for Bradford from school and made his debut at 18 in Super League. He moved to Huddersfield and had just broken into the first team when he was diagnosed with a heart valve problem and was successfully operated. Showing spirit and determination, he bounced back from this, spending three seasons at Hull KR and two more with Sheffield, before finally signing for his boyhood team Featherstone Rovers. Over two seasons he was a model of consistency. He then signed for Newcastle Thunder, then Halifax but was advised to quit prematurely by doctors because of his heart condition.
