Keith Goulding is a name that is fondly remembered as he was one of Featherstone Rovers’ great clubmen, both on and off the field. Signed on as a centre in the summer of 1950, he soon made his first team debut. He played 14 times in his first year, competing with other youngsters such as Alan Tennant and Cliff Lambert for a centre spot. The following year with Lambert in the forwards, Goulding and Tennant were the regular centres. He was therefore particularly unlucky not to have played at Wembley at the end of that season after having appeared in 30 games, including the semi-final. He lost out to Don Metcalfe at Wembley. Injury problems disrupted him the following season by in 1953/54 he re-invented himself at full-back with some success. When he lost that spot to Jackie Fennell, Goulding decided to move on and joined Dewsbury in December 1954.
