Burly second-rower Ken Kingsbury signed for his hometown team Featherstone Rovers after finishing his National Service. He was thrown straight into the first team for his debut thus following in the footsteps of his father Lou as a Featherstone Rovers player. He developed his game there and in the A team. After three seasons he was sold to Hull KR.
