It was only towards the end of a useful career that Hull-born centre Kris Welham followed in his older brother Liam’s footsteps and signed for Featherstone Rovers. Ten years at Hull KR had brought him over 100 tries, then two years at Bradford, and four seasons with Salford followed. It was with the Red Devils that Welham played in the 2019 Super League Grand final against St. Helens.

What he brought to Featherstone was a wealth of experience, a renowned hand-off and committed defence. Despite missing a chunk of the mid-season period with Covid, Welham started to find his best form in the back end of the season on Rovers’ run to the Championship Grand final. After defeat in that game, Welham left for Sheffield in 2022.
