Kyran Johnson came through the Featherstone junior set up as a full-back, but played most of his first team football on the wing. He was undoubtedly the quickest back at the club, but coaches Andy Hay and then Jon Sharp both preferred a bigger physical presence on the wing, so Johnson often lost out to Ben Blackmore, Scott Turner and James Duckworth. Nevertheless, Johnson persevered and his call-ups showed consistent improvement in his all-round game. Having been loaned out to Hunslet, Johnson then moved permanently to Oldham in 2018.
