Winger Lee Child came through the ranks at Ovenden ARLFC before signing for Wakefield. He spent five seasons with Trinity, before moving to Hunslet in 1997. From there, he came to Rovers in 1998 where he was used sparingly through the campaign by coach Steve Sims. At the end of the season, he appeared for Ireland as a Rovers player, one of four caps he won for his adopted country.
