A Featherstone man, Len is part of a family which contained many rugby players. He was the brother of hooker John Barraclough and cousin of Jim and Alf Barraclough. He worked his way through the ranks at full-back and was given a limited opportunity for first team football. He later signed for Hull KR, but after retirement was a staunch Featherstone supporter all his life.
