Signed from Featherstone Juniors, Les Padgett turned out to be a tremendous servant to Featherstone Rovers during a difficult period for the club. Although he appeared in only 81 games over seven years, Padgett was always available to step in when required. His first obstacles to first team selection were Ernie Barraclough and Luke Morgan, front row veterans who were hard to shift. In his second season, Padgett appeared regularly in the second row. When Morgan was sold and Barraclough moved on, it was Frank Hemmingway and Jack Flaherty who became first choices. Padgett continued to serve the club, although for a period in the 1930s the club abandoned its reserve side as a cost-cutting measure.
