Local hooker Lister Mogg made his debut during the Christmas period of 1947, going on to play 11 games that season. He faced a stiff challenge from Arthur Wood for a first team spot, and less than a year later signed for Castleford, the fee once again coming in handy for a cash-strapped Rovers. Dogged by injury, he managed just seven games for Castleford before retiring.
