Lou Kingsbury’s debut came on New Year’s Eve in Rovers first season, a 5-16 defeat at Hull.  He was a regular in the reserve team and it took him more than two years to get another chance in the first team, after which he switched with some success to second-row.  In November 1926, Kingsbury was part of an exchange deal which saw him and George Withrington move to Bramley and Jack Smith join Rovers.
