Prop forward Makehesi Makatoa came to Rovers for the 2019 season from Australia. Born at New Plymouth in New Zealand Makahesi played for the Cook Islands through his heritage, and also qualified to play for Niue. Despite playing at Canterbury, Parramatta and Canberra, he didn’t play first grade in the NRL before moving to England. He quickly settled down to life in Featherstone, hard working on the field and very popular and friendly off the field. After returning to Australia, he finally made his NRL debut in 2021 aged 28 with Parramatta.
