Mark Knapper’s Featherstone career was certainly short, but included a couple of memorable highlights including a touchline conversion that no Rovers fan will ever forget. In just his third ever game he broke a long standing club record by kicking 13 goals in a match against Keighley. The following month, he played in two epic Yorkshire Cup semi-finals against Castleford, and his successful goal after a last minute try in the replay at Wheldon Road cemented his place in Rovers’ history. Unfortunately an injury ruled him out of the final and his career fizzled out as quickly as it started. He signed for the new Scarborough club alongside a number of local players, but that venture didn’t work out.
