New Zealand international stand-off Mark Nixon made his test debut in 1990 versus Papua New Guinea. He then had two seasons in England with Rochdale before heading home to play for Canterbury. He toured the UK with the 1993 New Zealand tourists, and Rovers picked him up for the 1994/95 season. Mainly used at stand-off, he could also fill in at scrum-half and in the three-quarters. He was a substitute in the Challenge Cup semi-final against Leeds, and had the honour of scoring Rovers last ever top flight try in April 1995 before exclusion from Super League.
