A points machine and popular player for Leigh Centurions for many years, it was a surprise when his hometown team released him in later 2017. The following year, Rovers coach John Duffy snapped him up for Featherstone in 2018, and Ridyard impressed everyone with his organisational skills, kicking and commitment to the club. A dip in the club’s form coincided with an injury to Ridyard, who nevertheless fought back to fitness for the end of season Championship Shield win over Leigh. At the end of the year both Ridyard and coach Duffy moved back to Leigh.
