Biography
Young Michael Thornton joined Featherstone in 1966 alongside Ian Helliwell from New District Boys Club in Leeds. His first team debut came on Easter Tuesday as Rovers rested numerous players for their forthcoming Challenge Cup semi-final the following Saturday. Two further chances weren’t sufficient for Thornton to establish himself at first team level.
