New Zealander Paddy Burgoyne was one of four Antipodean players that Featherstone signed for the 1985/86 season. Burgoyne was a steady prop forward from the Glenora club in Auckland. The season started badly for Rovers, coach Agar was sacked and replaced by George Pieniazek whose first move was to release all four overseas players. Burgoyne played out his stay in the UK at Bramley.
