In March 1964 versatile half-back Peter Bell made his Featherstone debut against Dewsbury, deputising for Ivor Lingard. He went on to play 20 games over the following four seasons without establishing himself as a first choice starter. He then moved, like his older brother Roy, to Wakefield and then on to Doncaster. With his playing career almost over he was coaching the Rovers 'A' team when he was pressed into action one last time for Rovers in 1978, a twelve year gap since his previous appearance.  After Tommy Smales resigned as first team coach Peter took over for a short spell at the end of the 1978/79 season.
