Peter Fox’s place in the Featherstone Rovers Hall of Fame is unique in that his selection was very much due to his impact as a coach rather than a player. As the oldest of three famous sons of former Featherstone player Tommy Fox, Don signed for Rovers from Sharlston in September 1953. After three seasons and 34 games, Peter recognised that it would be very difficult for him to break into a strong Rovers team, and he left for Batley before finishing his career at Hull KR and very briefly Wakefield. In total he scored 17 tries and kicked 119 goals in 245 appearances for his five clubs.

Fox was educated at Sharlston School before studying engineering at Wakefield Technical College. He worked as an engineer and draughtsman at a local mining equipment factory before his management skills, were utilised to train apprentices in industry.
