Reg Dunning was a local product who was Featherstone's regular A team scrum-half in the early 1960s. When asked to deputise for Don Fox or Carl Dooler, he did so admirably and was a useful squad man to have. Later in his career he helped Ackworth ARLFC into the First round proper of the Challenge Cup, captaining a side that featured future Rovers president, Bob Ashby.
