Part of a very successful Featherstone Rovers Academy team, Richard Whiting burst onto the scene midway through the 2003 season. Tall, skilful and mature for his age, Richard was equally at home at stand-off or centre. Rovers knew they had a hot property on their hands, but so did Super League clubs and he left for Hull FC for a paltry recompense after just 11 first team matches. He gave excellent service to Hull FC, capped by England, playing over 250 games and receiving a testimonial from the black and whites. His career wound down with spells at Doncaster, Leigh and Toronto.
