Bob Marsden joined Rovers in November 1955 from Huddersfield R.U. and immediately impressed with his wholehearted endeavour on the field.  His senior debut against Castleford on 21 January 1956 and he made eight appearances that season.  National service then intervened and Bob was unable to regain his place when he returned to the club.
