For the 2015 season Featherstone Rovers recruited Gold Coast Titans hooker Sam Irwin. Hailing from the unlikely rugby league town of Darwin, Northern Territories, Irwin showed some class and deft distribution in his early games, but failed to settle and adapt to life in England. A wrist injury increased his homesickness and he was released from his contract and went home.
