Spencer Longstaff came through the ranks of the Rovers junior set up and put in some eye-catching performances for the reserve team. He duly received a first team call up and played nine top flight games under Allan Agar in the 1991/2 season. His father Paul was a respected loose forward from Hull KR in the 1960s, and Spencer’s older brother Simon also played professionally at Halifax.
